Permanent Up to 1.2FTE Staff Specialist, Rehabilitation Psychiatry Department of Rehabilitation Services, Cumberland Hospital
Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
This position is expected to be based within Western Sydney Local Health District at Cumberland Hospital, but as agreed with the Executive Medical Director MH in any other part of the Mental Health Service.
The position will be primarily located at Cumberland Hospital in the Sub-Acute/Non-Acute Rehabilitation Units but with scope to be considered to be a part of Sub-Acute/Non-Acute services including community within the Western Sydney Mental Health Service.
There are a comprehensive range of treatment programs and areas of active research.
Successful applicants will be working in a motivated and highly rewarding position within a well-established senior team, supported through high quality supervision and training.
There are opportunities for supervision, consultation, presentations, and innovative research as part of the role.
Successful applicants will be expected to provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient and on call services within the specialty as determined and required by the district.
This position may involve travel within the District.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within three months may be considered.
If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
Essential Requirements for Appointment
Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Sound clinical knowledge in Psychiatry Sub-Acute/Non-Acute/Rehabilitation Units demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University attached to each facility.
The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Western Sydney Local Health District appointment.
No remuneration is attached to the University appointment.
The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the District for clinical matters.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
