We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).
About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive AOD Support Worker at our Eastern Bridge location.
Reporting to the Support Work Coordinator, this is a casual position.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Award SCHADS, level 4. You will successfully Knowledge of lifestyle pressures faced by disadvantaged people in the community, use appropriate risk models to assess levels of risk, harm and well-being, including immediate risk, understand and implement appropriate procedures and strategies to deal with crisis situations, develop and implement communication strategies tailored to presenting clients and their needs, demonstrate knowledge of AOD sector including role, context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations and legislation.
Conduct scheduled and random breathalyser and urine screening, assist with medication, ensure participants are on site, complete timetabled requirements and transport back to the units at the required time each day.
Identify, respond and support any incident involving staff, participants, property and the community, maintain accurate client records and data for all clients, participate in staff meetings to maintain connection with wider staff team and daily handovers at the end of each shift, liaising with other staff to ensure required client information is communicated.
Facilitate group sessions, collect feedback and record attendance.
Engage in professional development through The Salvation Army Performance Appraisals, training opportunities, line management supervision and maintain knowledge of current best practice principles through reading of relevant articles.
You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications) Degree qualification in social work, psychology, addiction counselling or related discipline.
Certificate IV (or equivalent) in the application of AOD interventions or the four competencies required to work within the AOD Sector.
Current Certification in First Aid (HLTAID001) and CPR (HLTAID009).
Relevant experience in a social service environment and AOD sector.
Sound experience of working with women from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs.
Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent, minimum.
Diploma preferred.
Relevant experience in a social service environment.
