It is one of the world's largest producing gold mines and is located on a geothermally active extinct volcanic crater. Production first commenced in 1997. The operation consists of an open pit mine producing refractory ore, which is treated using pressure oxidation before the gold is recovered by a conventional leach process.Job description:PurposeReporting to the Senior Category Lead you will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Management Office for Lihir Operations. You will provide technical expertise in the strategic procurement, delivery, and management of Minor Capital Projects for Lihir Operations.Essential DutiesProvide leadership, advice and guidance on issues relating to all aspects of Projects and Engineering ProcurementLead procurement activities including the development of relevant approach-to-market strategies and documentationLead continuous improvement and drive purchasing behavioural changeProvide commercial support and advice to the business in managing suppliers and contractual issuesWork as an active team member across sourcing activities, projects or other contract portfolio accountabilitiesIdentify local business opportunities and work with Social Performance teamBuild trusted relationships with key stakeholders to deliver required work outcomesTravel to Lihir as required, to provide on-site support and oversight for procurementTraining & ExperienceProven experience in procurement, specifically in engineering and capital projects within the mining or heavy industry sectorsTertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business, Law, Supply Chain Management or a related disciplineSubstantial knowledge and expertise executing a range of procurement activities including but not limited to Category ManagementUnderstanding of legal and ethical procurement practices and complianceSignificant experience with senior stakeholders and influencing commercial decisions and contractual negotiationsWorking knowledge and experience with SAP, Power BI, AribaStrong Knowledge of low-cost country sourcing, and international trade regulations & logistics Skilled in reviewing and understanding contractual termsDemonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead and inspire a teamExcellent attention to detail and time management skillsStrong negotiation skills, with a track record of sourcing and contract managementStrong active listening and interpersonal skills, supporting an ability to build and develop remote team relationships and resolve conflictAbility to work in a fast pace and environment managing multiple sourcing projects and meet project deadlinesAbility to complete a pre-employment medical assessmentMust be able to complete a National Police Check & Navex Risk Rate ScreeningWorking ConditionsOur Brisbane-based team enjoy flexible Monday to Friday work options to balance working from home and in the office.
