This role assists the Philanthropy & Partnerships team in nurturing close relationships with existing and prospective high-value supporters.
Key responsibilities include writing philanthropic proposals and grant applications, coordinating events, and producing communications materials.
Additionally, this role involves thorough research to develop a database of prospects aligned with the Black Dog Institute's work and values.
Duties & Responsibilities Strategic Support the strategic growth in income from major donors, trusts, and foundations.Monitor upcoming philanthropic grants to identify new opportunities weekly.Maintain a repository of Institute research project information for future funding opportunities.Develop a strong understanding of the Institute's work and programs to articulate these clearly to external stakeholders.Build fundraising knowledge to ensure best practice delivery of high-value programs.Collaborate with the Research Development and Support (RDS) team to ensure transparency across all activities pertaining to competitive research grants.High Value Donors Support the Philanthropy Manager in the stewardship of high-value donors and in building new relationships.Research prospective high net worth individuals and families to develop a pipeline of opportunities.Conduct outbound calls to thank donors and update them on the Institute's work.Event Support Support the Event Coordinator in organizing events within the Partnerships and Philanthropy team.Arrange tours of the Institute and seek engagement activities with supporters.Source appropriate ambassadors and lived experience speakers for events.Writing and Communications Work closely with colleagues from Research and Service Implementation teams to receive briefings on funding requests.Assist with the development and writing of proposals, funding applications, and acquittal reports.Coordinate the development of donor stewardship and cultivation plans.Ensure website content pertaining to Philanthropy remains current.Coordinate the development of collateral and content as needed.CRM Database Maintain up-to-date records in the database including grant opportunities and supporter information.Assist with extracting donor data for communications and data analysis.Comply with data protocols and privacy policies.Ensure all communications are recorded accurately within the CRM database.General Responsibilities Stay informed about the Institute's activities and funding priorities.Perform general administration tasks supporting the wider Philanthropy team.Track and monitor incoming donations and ensure accurate receipting.Pursue development opportunities through attendance at events and conferences.Work, Health and Safety Ensure compliance with all WHS legislation and policies.Report any WHS hazards to the Head of Operations, People & Culture.Work safely, applying a duty of care.Note: The list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and the Institute may request additional activities to meet operational needs.
Skills & Experience Required Essential Criteria Tertiary qualification in marketing, business, law or relevant experience (up to two years).Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills with a high degree of empathy.Outstanding organization and administrative skills.Ability to comprehend and articulate complex topics to diverse stakeholders.Proven time management skills and ability to juggle competing deadlines.Experience in maintaining a prospects database, ideally with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge software.Strong administrative and IT skills with experience in digital editing tools.Desirable Criteria Alignment to mental health and wellbeing, and commitment to a career in the non-profit sector.Experience in competitive grants and funding proposals.Understanding of high-net-worth populations and philanthropy.Experience in event management.EEO Statement Black Dog Institute is committed to achieving a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects our wider community.
