These positions are located in various locations statewide. Based on the needs of the agency or the applicant the positions will be located in a home office or in an agency office in Lacey, Spokane, or Federal Way. Special Agents are sworn law enforcement officers and must meet the Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment. Although they are exempt from civil service, they have many of the same benefits as general service employees, including a generous insurance and leave package. They also belong to the Public Safety Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and have a flexible work schedule of 160 hours within 28-day work periods.
If you do not currently hold a law enforcement certification, you will have the opportunity to attend the Basic Law Enforcement Academy through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center. Special Agents on the Regulatory and Enforcement team work in partnership with other local, state, and federal regulatory or law enforcement agencies to regulate licensed gambling, enforce gambling rules and laws, and investigate illegal gambling activities. The authorized forms of gambling that Special Agents regulate are Card Rooms, Pull Tabs, Raffles, Bingo, Fund Raising Events, and Amusement games. Special Agents investigate criminal cases for the prosecution of illegal gambling activities and gambling-related crimes. They also provide technical assistance to gambling operations, respond to complaints submitted to the agency, and provide education and training to both the public and licensees.
Some of what you will do: Respond to complaints in a timely manner.Know our licensees and build good working relationships with them.Conduct compliance checks as needed to determine and mitigate risk areas with the licensee.Work administrative and criminal investigations with a connection to gambling.Conduct internet and criminal investigations in an undercover capacity.Dismantle and disrupt criminal organizations and operations.Participate on special projects and teams.Demonstrate a good working relationship with federal, state, and local law enforcement and regulatory agencies by working cases jointly, sharing information, and providing training.Why Join Our Team Our employees are our most important asset, and we are looking for highly talented individuals to join our team. Special Agent starting salary ranges from $64,620 - $88,752 annually, depending upon your education and experience.
NOTE: 5% Premium Pay will be added to salary above for duty stations in King County.
