What you'll be doing Plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within social work to provide evidence based, trauma informed and developmentally appropriate assessment and treatment to children and adolescents (0 to 17 years) in acute mental health distress, and their families.
The position sits within the Safeguards Child and Adolescent Mental Health Response Team ('Safeguards Team') and reports to the Safeguards Team Leader with professional responsibility to the Co-Head of Department Allied Health.
The Safeguards Team is a new dedicated CAMHS resource designed to provide innovative and best practice care to children and adolescents aged 0-17 years experiencing acute mental health distress.
The team is community based and provides rapid, mobile and flexible care to resolve mental health crisis, including assertive outreach, care coordination and time-limited therapeutic interventions.
The Safeguards Team operates 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, and will respond to young people in their schools, homes and communities and in hospital-based settings (EDs/Wards), through face to face, phone and telehealth appointments.
Relevant qualifications as a Social Worker and eligible for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Extensive post graduate clinical experience providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for children and/or adolescents and their families.
Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved consumer care and outcomes.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of social work practice, as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application when working with children/adolescents and families/carers.
Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
