It will be a catalyst for 10 years of wider rail transformation across the whole of South East Queensland and it is already playing a key role in how we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class 'ETCS' signalling system.This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work on one of Australia's largest infrastructure projects and to be a part of something that will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.About the RoleThe role of Senior Legal Counsel, Property protects the interests of the State and the CRRDA by providing expert, independent legal advice to the Minister, Board, Chief Executive Officer and staff of the CRRDA on property and tenure related issues involving or affecting the CRR Project, other 'transport related projects' prescribed under the under the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority Act 2016, and Cross River Rail Priority Development Areas.Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will support the General Counsel and collaborate closely with the Land team to navigate complex property matters and ensure smooth project delivery. This is a unique opportunity to work within a high-performing in-house legal team on South East Queensland's largest transport infrastructure projects.This opportunity is offered as a contract until December 2026 with possible extension.Key Responsibilities:Provide expert legal advice on property and tenure issues related to the Cross River Rail Project.Support the establishment and negotiation of property-related agreements and dealings, tenure correction and acquisition activities and proactively identifying and managing property-related legal risks.Become a trusted expert on property-related contractual arrangements and contribute to the project's operational and commercial success.Partner with the Land team to assess and negotiate claims for compensation made by interest holders related to property acquisitions for the project.Support the coordination of land hand back processes following construction.Manage claims for compensation made in the Land Court of Queensland relating to acquisitions.Create and contribute to briefing papers, reporting and other correspondence.Manage, document and retain legal correspondence and information.Manage engagement of external legal counsel and services in a fiscally sustainable manner.About You:Admitted or immediately entitled to be admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland.Property law experience across the public and/or private sectors, in particular in transport, infrastructure and/or major projects.Background in formulating effective legal solutions for complex property matters related to project delivery.Experience and success in fostering legal compliance with commercial acumen, collaboration, and active participation particularly across multi-disciplinary teams.Experience with securing and amending tenure associated with major projects.Awareness of legislative and policy considerations relevant to project delivery and land acquisitions.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Self-motivated with exceptional time and practice management skills.Why work with CRRDA?On Cross River Rail you will not only work with the best but become your best.
