About the Position:The SEWB Youth Worker at DAHS plays a vital role in providing social and emotional wellbeing support to Aboriginal community members in Derby. Funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, this position requires a deep understanding of SEWB, especially within the context of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia.
The SEWB Worker will also support and deliver activities which promote education, prevention and early intervention to help strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' social and emotional wellbeing. The role will also assist community members through case management, advocacy, brief interventions and referrals to relevant organisations.
About the Organisation:Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) providing holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Derby and surrounding communities. DAHS provides a wide range of innovative public health programs in addition to direct comprehensive primary health care services.
About YouTo be considered for the position, you must meet the following criteria:
Essential:Aboriginality is an essential criteria in accordance with section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).Experience working with roles that support Aboriginal people's mental health, SEWB and/or health.Understanding or experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.Experience in the delivery of programs and activities for Aboriginal people in a group setting.Experience in providing case management and advocacy for Aboriginal clients.Proven ability to solve problems by analysing issues, identifying options, and selecting the most appropriate solution.Effective organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage competing priorities.National Police Clearance.Current "C" Class motor vehicle driver's license.Current WA Working With Children Check.Desirable:Minimum Certificate IV Community Services (Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs, Aged Care or Youth Work) or equivalent qualification.Responsibilities include:The scope of this position will include, but is not limited to:
Case management, including assessment, intervention, care planning, referrals, and follow-up with SEWB clients and stakeholders.Conducting psychosocial and SEWB education in small group settings.Developing, promoting, and implementing support and referral pathways for SEWB clients to access community-based services.Advocating for clients to ensure their needs are met by health professionals and relevant agencies.Participating in stakeholder meetings for a multidisciplinary approach to client care and service development.Promoting the SEWB program positively to staff, clients, and the community.Actively engaging in community events supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.Contributing to program policy and procedure development.Ensuring accurate documentation and reporting according to funding guidelines and organizational requirements.About the BenefitsWhile you will face diverse new challenges in the role, you will also enjoy an attractive remuneration package including a base salary of $79,806 - $84,721 per annum pro rata plus superannuation.
