Due to our recent merger and increased operational opportunities, we are looking to fill positions across both our Northern Operations located in the Murchison Region and Southern operations.As a critical part of our site operations team, the Alternate Underground Manager's purpose is to promote a positive safety culture and productivity targets. This role requires the successful candidate to hold a statutory position as required by the Western Australian Mines Regulations and therefore makes them responsible for the day-to-day operation of the underground mine. This is an 8/6 role FIFO from Perth.The role includesChampioning a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirementsProviding visible safety leadership and driving productivity improvement initiativesCoordinating mining engineering activities with production teams, surveyors, geologists, drill and blast, and mining teamsMentoring, training, and developing members of the Technical Services teamIdentifying opportunities for continuous improvementManaging underground and surface projectsProviding leadership to mining engineers and other staff in their day-to-day activitiesOverseeing daily underground mining operations, including production, cost control, and quality assuranceSupporting the Underground Manager in providing statutory supervision of underground operations when they are offsiteProviding supervision and guidance to our in-house operational mining teams & external contractors to ensure performance and compliance with regulationsWhat do I need?Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or related field7+ years of experience working at underground mining operations, ideally with experience in operational leadership rolesFirst Class Mine Manager's Certificate of CompetencyStrong technical and infrastructure backgroundWA Underground Supervisors Certificate of CompetencyCurrent 'C' Class Western Australian Driver's Licence.The Westgold Offer:A permanent full-time position at a successful gold producerPerformance-based bonusSite Allowance (if applicable)Group salary continuous insuranceA health and wellness allowanceHealth insurance discountA range of Family and Medical leave policies that includes IVF, surrogacy, and adoption.Referral Bonus - bring your mates along5 years' pro rata long service leaveSalary sacrifice optionsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) that includes free confidential counselling and wellbeing services, including financial advice.We appreciate that not everybody will tick every box for their next dream role but if you believe that you can bring the passion and drive to contribute to our operations, we encourage you to apply.Westgold is driven by our core values of Show Respect, Choose Safety and Deliver Value.
