With a focus on solar, wind, and hybrid projects, my client is targeting significant growth in installed capacity and continues to support Australia's net-zero ambitions.
The Role Reporting to the Head of Energy Markets, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for securing long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in Australia.
This role is crucial in driving my client's renewable project development by ensuring project revenues through successful energy sales agreements with key commercial and industrial partners.
Key Responsibilities Support the development of new renewable capacity in Australia by securing long-term energy sales agreements (PPAs) with commercial, industrial, and non-traditional off-takers. Identify and pursue opportunities for long-term energy sales and renewable energy certificates/credits. Build and nurture commercial relationships with large customers, energy consultants, and utilities. Lead business development initiatives, including organizing meetings to explore opportunities. Manage contract negotiations and devise pricing structures for off-takers. Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and tenders for renewable energy from corporate off-takers, preparing offers in collaboration with business development and commercial teams. Negotiate the terms of Power Purchase Agreements, working closely with the legal department. Monitor developments in regional energy markets and policies, assessing their impact on power markets. Selection Criteria Degree in engineering, economics, or a related field; a master's in an energy-related discipline is highly desirable. 10+ years of professional experience in the energy sector, with experience in commercial roles. Strong knowledge of energy and renewable power markets; technical knowledge of renewable power plants is advantageous. Comprehensive understanding of the Australian energy markets, especially the customer landscape for renewable energy off-take. Proven experience managing complex offers and negotiating profitable contracts. Strong team player with the ability to work under tight deadlines and take a proactive, results-oriented approach. Attention to detail and the ability to operate independently. The right to live and work in Australia. Key Skills Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing opportunities. Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to challenges. Ability to collaborate with various departments within a matrixed, global structure. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Willingness to travel locally and internationally as required. Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite. Excellent written and verbal English skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
