Job DescriptionThe Position Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Psychologist, Counsellor, Social Work or Youth Work professionals to join our Student Wellbeing Support Team.
The Student Wellbeing Support Team is responsible for supporting students with enhancing their wellbeing – personal, social, educational. This is realised through a continuum of counselling and wellbeing services designed to ensure student wellbeing and support addresses any barriers to learning, for example family and developmental issues.
The successful candidate will be approachable and available to students, developing and implementing programmes aimed at nurturing relationships and meeting the specific needs of students.
Responsibilities The position includes the following responsibilities:
Being approachable and available to students during recess and lunch breaks and out-of-classroom activities.Developing and implementing lunchtime programmes aimed at nurturing relationships and meeting the specific needs of students.Attending and actively contributing to camps, excursions, sporting events and other extra-curricular events.Promote and support service learning and social justice activities across the College.In conjunction with key pastoral staff, initiate and coordinate the engagement of guest speakers/artists aligned with the enhancement of student wellbeing.Collaborating with other counsellors serving in similar educational settings.The successful candidate will demonstrate the following Skills and Attributes: Holds relevant qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling or youth work.Demonstrated experience, skills and knowledge with working with students with trauma histories and/or are 'at risk' of being disenfranchised from school.Experience in effective case management and facilitation.Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage competing priorities.An understanding of trauma, mental health and social and emotional development.Capacity to make sound professional judgements with some autonomy.Parade College is fully committed to the protection of children. The successful applicant will be expected to satisfy child protection screening, and adhere to the School's Child Protection Policies.This position is a part-time (FTE 0.4) ongoing position, and is available for commencement 28 January 2025 (or by negotiation).
