This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation of priority collection areas such as MAGNT's world-renowned bark painting collection, Aboriginal Art and Material Culture collection, and our Australian Art collection.As a key member of the Digitisation Project team, you will collaborate closely with the Digitisation Project Coordinator and an Art Handler, contributing your expertise to safeguard and ensure the accessibility of these collections for future generations.For your application to be considered you must:Address the selection criteria in the questions below (these answers must be complete for your application to be considered. Referees will not be contacted without prior consent.*Addressing the selection criteria requires you to demonstrate how your previous experience, skills, education, and training have equipped you to meet the requirements of the position for which you are applying.Applications close 11:59pm ACST Sunday the 24th of November 2024About MAGNTThe Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is the Northern Territory's premier cultural organisation.Our principal facility since 1981 is on Larrakia Land at Bullocky Point in Darwin, home to internationally renowned cultural and scientific collections and research and exhibition programs.MAGNT also operates the historic Fannie Bay Gaol in Darwin, the Museum of Central Australia incorporating the Strehlow Research Centre in Alice Springs, Megafauna Central, and the Alcoota Fossil Bed site northeast of Alice Springs.MAGNT also manages the historic Lyons Cottage on Darwin's Esplanade and the Defence of Darwin Experience at East Point in Darwin.MAGNT attracts over 300,000 visitors annually to our sites.Selection CriteriaSelection Criteria 1: Tertiary qualifications in photography and significant experience in an art gallery or museum digitisation environment, creating high-quality digital files of collection items.Selection Criteria 2: Use of a range of professional camera and lighting equipment.Selection Criteria 3: High level knowledge of colour management, digital file management, and significant experience in camera capture (with DSLR and medium format systems) and image processing on Windows and Macintosh operating systems.Selection Criteria 4: Significant experience in the handling and care of rare, valuable, and fragile collection items.Selection Criteria 5: Understanding of a range of digital storage processes and management systems.Selection Criteria 6: Work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment and self-manage workload across concurrent projects.Selection Criteria 7: Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills at institutional, government and community levels and an ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures and provide advice on digitisation standards, techniques, and equipment to community organisations.Selection Criteria 8: Sound understanding of Work Health Safety (WHS) practices to ensure WHS compliance.
