Salary: $279,751 to $327,434 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.
The Australian Office of Financial Management (AOFM) is responsible for the central debt financing operations of the Australian Government.
It also manages the Government's cash position to ensure payment obligations can always be met.
The AOFM is also responsible for the management and execution of financial market investments on behalf of the Government.
The AOFM is seeking an outstanding senior executive with highly developed leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
You will be a strong people manager with high emotional intelligence.

We are looking for leaders with an advanced understanding of debt financing in financial markets and a familiarity with the requirements of sovereign debt portfolio management.
Our ideal candidate will have a proven ability to build strong relationships across Australian and global funding markets and provide timely, accurate and impartial advice.
You will have senior leadership experience in financial markets or in a related role in the public sector.
The key duties of the position include:
As Deputy Chief Executive Officer, you will play an integral role in leading teams of experienced markets and funding specialists whilst providing strategic and operational leadership for the AOFM and critical support to the CEO.
As Deputy CEO, you will lead the teams who deliver debt management strategies.
You will build strong partnerships and represent the agency at senior forums nationally and internationally.
Accountabilities: Lead, motivate and support a team of leaders and their staff across the Front Office (our markets facing teams) to deliver debt management strategies effectively and efficiently and to set the parameters in which these leaders operate; Drawing on exceptional stakeholder representational skills, build effective partnerships and represent the agency and the government at a senior level in related forums in Australia and international settings; Provide visible and values-based leadership that drives a collaborative, respectful, performance-based culture across the organisation; Provide high quality, authoritative and strategic leadership and frank, impartial and timely advice on current and emerging issues, considering associated risks and implications; As a member of the senior executive leadership team, make a strong and significant contribution to agency decision making and ensure effective governance and compliance with government directions, guidelines and legislation.
Skills/knowledge:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:A working appreciation of the role of the Australian Government's debt financing activities in financial markets; An understanding of public finances in the context for sovereign debt financing and portfolio management, as well as Australian funding markets and global macro dynamics and influences; Proven ability to build strong working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders and provide timely, impartial and accurate advice; Demonstrated senior leadership experience within the financial/financial market or public sector with a well-developed understanding of risk, governance, and debt financing strategies; Exceptional leadership and people management skills and the ability to anticipate and analyse complex and sensitive issues from a range of perspectives; Strong ability to think strategically, including navigating through rules and complexity to achieve desired outcomes, developing strategies, building organisational capabilities, and successfully managing change; Ability to cultivate productive working relationships by managing performance, valuing diversity, providing constructive and respectful feedback to encourage and enable performance excellence and leading by example; Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated resilience and maintenance of a positive outlook in uncertain and ambiguous environments; Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively and with authority and credibility to build and maintain collaborative relationships; Commitment to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
Qualifications:
