The Planning and Land Services Group is within the Department of Transport and Planning and is responsible for supporting the delivery of services and infrastructure that will help build thriving environments and communities across our state.
The Group includes the Office of the Deputy Secretary and Land Use Victoria.
Land Use Victoria provides whole of Victorian Government leadership on land information, policy, assessment, and advice, enabling government to use its land more strategically and maximise public value.
It manages the government's program for land administration and property information, providing innovative solutions for land registration, property information, valuation, land surveying, geographic naming, land data management services, and spatial mapping services.
LUV performs a range of statutory and non-statutory functions and provides surveying services for major government infrastructure projects, all government property valuations, and is responsible for all council valuations.

About the Role This is a Fixed Term, full-time position until 31/10/2025.
Valuer-General Victoria, as the Valuation Authority for valuations made for rating and taxing purposes, is responsible for the return of annual valuations in accordance with the standards set out in the Valuation Best Practice Specification guidelines and the requirements of the Valuation of Land Act.
To ensure these outcomes are delivered, VGV has an opportunity for a Senior Valuer, primarily to audit and certify Municipal Rating Authority Valuations.
The responsibilities of the position include auditing and certifying Municipal Rating Authority Valuations, ensuring adherence to Valuation Best Practice, and providing valuation advice and undertaking valuations as required, which may include residential, rural, commercial, and industrial properties.
Additionally, the role involves collaborating with other team members to provide ongoing support, sale analysis, and advice to rating and taxing valuers and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of annual valuations.
Position Outcomes The successful applicant will audit and certify Municipal Rating Authority Valuations, ensuring adherence to Valuation Best Practice and providing specialist advice on rating, taxation, and objections processes.
They will build strong stakeholder relationships, resolve complex issues, manage rating objections, contribute to policy improvements, and promote cultural safety within the valuation process.

Qualifications and Experience Mandatory Completion of an appropriate tertiary qualification with Certified Practicing Valuer (CPV) status and membership with the Australian Property Institute (API).
Knowledge of the Valuation of Land Act 1960 and other relevant legislation.
Knowledge and experience working with Valuation Best Practice Specification guidelines.
Knowledge of government processes and land administration matters.
Extensive experience valuing in area of expertise.
