This is an exciting opportunity to join the Life & Earth Sciences team in the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology (SET).
The Life & Earth Sciences team supports internationally acclaimed and contemporary disciplines of molecular & cellular biology; ecology & environmental sciences; geology and earth sciences and genetics & evolution, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate education, training and research with both national relevance and global outreach and networks in the public and private sectors.
The Senior Technical Officer is responsible for planning and managing the timetabling of all practicals within the team. The position is responsible for delivering some practicals, ordering consumables, maintaining equipment and asset register and liaising with academics for practicals. The Senior Technical Officer maintains accurate records of all teaching infrastructure and assets, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Wellbeing and legislative requirements. Additionally, the Senior Technical Officer supports a broad range of activities related to molecular and cellular biology as well as genes and development. The position reports to the Team Leader of the Life & Earth Sciences team.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and hands-on person coordinating a team of technical officers, who work closely with course coordinators within the faculty. They will be a service-focused individual who looks to continuously improve customer service and efficiency within the team.
To be successful you will need: Demonstrated experience in Molecular and Cellular Biology as well as Genes and DevelopmentDemonstrated experience in support of laboratory practicals, coordinating teaching support activities and equipment managementKnowledge of HSW and safety management with demonstrated experience in application of these in a teaching/laboratory environmentDemonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate individual and team work activities to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a complex environmentQualifications: A relevant degree with subsequent relevant experienceEnjoy an outstanding career environment The University of Adelaide is a uniquely rewarding workplace.
