About The Project John Holland have been awarded to deliver the Parramatta light rail stage 2 - Enabling works project, the first part of this $322 million contract consists of the construction of the first 1.3km of new light rail alignment, including a 320m bridge over the Parramatta River between Melrose Park and Wentworth Point.
Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 – Main Works will connect Stage 1 and the Parramatta CBD to Sydney Olympic Park via Camellia, Rydalmere, Ermington, Melrose Park and Wentworth Point.
About The Role The main purpose of the cost planner role is to measure and price all aspects of the project as the design progresses through the various gateways and provide detailed reports comparing the quantities and costs of the designed works against the tender, design.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Obtain the tender measure (CostX files) and pricing (CATS) from the Estimators and set up a method for measuring and pricing in the same format to enable comparison of quantities and pricing as the design progresses.
Measure all buildings/ structures off the BIM model in the same way as the estimate at design gateways 50%, 85%, 100% and IFC.
Produce a progress weekly report detailing a comparison between the various design gateways highlighting any unexpected design growth.
Liaise with the Design Manager and Consultants regarding changes and queries.
Make assumptions where necessary where information is not available to ensure proper comparisons.
Liaise with Project Managers and designers for cost benefit analysis of designs options.
Report on job progress and cost control to the Project Manager.
Prepare progress claims to clients for payments of work done.
Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures.
To be successful in this key role, you must have Tertiary Qualifications in Construction, Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
Proficient Construction experience within cost planning Advanced skills in estimating computer software packages Advanced financial management skills Civil Engineering with experience in Bridges, roads and rail Ability to measure from BIM model Experience in CAT and CostX software As part of the team, you help us deliver on our promise to transform lives
