The Program Manager is responsible for administering a subset of continuing education programs offered by The Ohio State University John Glenn College of Public Affairs, including credit-bearing leadership certificate programs and custom programs.
The Program Manager reports to the Director of Professional Development and works collaboratively alongside a program consultant, operations manager, two program coordinators, and faculty director.
The Program Manager spends most of their time recruiting participants, recruiting instructors, working with instructors and the faculty director to ensure high-quality program content, and coordinating outreach to prospective participants and their employers.
The Program Manager's performance is assessed based on professional alignment with Glenn College values, performance on the duties of the position, and progress toward unit goals for program participation and quality.
Duties Description Manage professional development programs.Ensure program quality.Develop new in-person and online programs.Research and design curriculum and course materials.Fit program content to customer needs.Design and interpret the evaluation of programs.Assure alignment with academic requirements in conjunction with the Faculty Director.Teach / lead trainings.Advise program participants.Identify scholarship opportunities for programs.Determine program applications, registrations, Cvent content, venues, sessions, agendas, instructors, partners, catering needs, course materials and supplies, lodging needs, parking, and day-of logistics.Identify and select a diverse pool of instructors.Mentor and train instructors.Manage instructor correspondence.Design and interpret the evaluation of instructors.Negotiate instructor compensation and contract.Act as college / unit / program ambassador.Recruit customers and program participants.Assist in the development of content for print materials, website, and social media.Identify outreach opportunities.Assist with program recruitment via outreach events.Interact with program instructors and participants to resolve routine, complex, and sensitive matters.
May serve as a resource for less experienced staff.
Contribute to team discipline and performance.
Train program assistants on program activities.
Participate in unit employee hiring process.
Participate in college and university meetings as necessary.
Attend events as necessary.
Develop and implement program budget.
Assist to determine program fee structure.
Submit financial transactions.
Write program-specific grants.
Administer grant program evaluations and reporting.
Assist to identify and secure philanthropic resources.
Assist with design of fundraising events.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Four years relevant experience required working in the public and/or nonprofit sector managing professional development programs.
Deep knowledge of adult learning.
Outstanding leadership, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Desired Qualifications Master's Degree in Education and Adult Learning or Public Affairs.
4-8 years relevant experience.
Demonstrate the experience or high potential for curriculum development and ability to build syllabi and design and develop both in-person and online courses.
Experience working in state or local government.
Experience with project management.
Collaborative team player.
Flexibility to attend events during evening and weekends in addition to standard workdays.
