Apply now Job no: 502157Work type: PermanentLocation: South BrisbaneCategories: Administration, All other About the role Join our Clinical Coding team as a Coding Quality Officer (CQO) on a permanent full-time basis, based at South Brisbane.
The CQO will ensure the highest quality of clinical classification by Statewide, Mater coders.
As a CQO, you will maintain accurate implementation of Australian Coding Standards, audit, educate, mentor, and train coders.
Providing expert coding solutions for challenging cases and new casemix, oversee processes, and offer coding expertise for both onsite and desktop PHI coding audits.
Make a significant impact in enhancing healthcare quality and accuracy.
Provide expert advice to improve the accuracy of clinical coding through regular audits and adherence to the Mater Coding Quality PlanInitiate, manage, and conduct coding quality improvement activities, offering timely advice and feedback to the teamIdentify training needs, develop and deliver education and training sessions for Mater Coding staff and trainee codersMentor Mater Coders and student HIM/Clinical coding placementsPerform data analysis, validation, and reconciliation activities related to coding and DRG dataCollaborate with coders and advisory bodies to find solutions to complex coding scenarios and implement changes for new casemixAct as an Advanced Clinical Coder when needed to meet coding completion KPIsTest new versions and enhancements in key systems, providing expertise in iPM, WebPAS, 3M Codefinder, and OnBaseAdvise the Clinical Coding Services Manager on opportunities for coding quality improvement and develop strategies accordinglyFacilitate and assist with health fund audits, responding to auditor's reviews and providing education to external stakeholdersLead and participate in meetings, offering expert opinions and responsesAbout you You will have a HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course/Certificate IV in Clinical Classification (or equivalent).
You will also have:
Bachelor of Health Information Management or Clinical Coding QualificationAt least 5 years' experience in Clinical Coding using current edition of ICD 10 AM and ACHI and sound knowledge of Australian Coding standards and AR-DRGsDemonstrated experience in quality activities and audits; an Audit qualification is highly desirableExpert knowledge of Coding quality and audit activitiesComprehensive working knowledge of current privacy and medico-legal legislation and standards with capacity to apply that knowledge across a complex and large amount of PHI claims and associated informationEligible for Health Information Management Association of Australia MembershipDrive to improve and mentor a large, focused teamAbility to work in both an onsite and online coding team environmentAbility to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) to a diverse range of stakeholdersAble to prioritise and effectively manage a heavy and constantly changing workload, to meet service demands, productivity targets and deadlinesExcellent Microsoft office and analytical skills with the ability to extract, interpret and present dataExperience using 3M Codefinder softwareExcellent planning and time management skills coupled with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a teamMater is Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, providing care for almost 700,000 patients a year across a network of 11 hospitals.
