We work and collaborate together, face to face in our Barangaroo office.This particular role is for our Platform team.
If you have led teams with solid development experience, in-depth DevOps and Security knowledge, and you love promoting best practices and fantastic developer experiences - we want to hear from youAbout the teamOur cross-functional teams include Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers focused on delivering solutions and solving problems rather than simply completing tickets.The structure is flat, and the process is lean, with a culture of MVP, iteration, and "build, measure, learn" at the heart of everything we do.We share in-depth experience in Node / Typescript, React, PostgreSQL, AWS, and more.What you'll do :Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellenceMaintain and improve our environments in AWSCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, and other Engineering teamsDrive the adoption of best practices in software development, including automated testing, continuous integration, and DevOps, ensuring a seamless developer experienceChampion security practices and collaborate with relevant teams to ensure the platform remains secure and compliant with industry standardsOversee the design and implementation of microservices architecture, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance of the platformParticipate in technical discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews to maintain high standards of engineering excellenceAdvocate for and implement modern cloud technologies (AWS or GCP) to enhance the platforms' resilience, scalability, and performanceLead initiatives to improve the overall developer experience by working on Core Services, internal tools and CI as well as processes and communication.What we're looking for :Proven experience leading engineering teams, with a strong passion for mentoring and developing engineersExpertise in backend development (ideally but not necessary Node.js, TypeScript) and a strong understanding of microservices architectureExperience with AWS and DevOps practices, with a focus on building scalable, reliable systemsExperience building environments with IAC tools such as Terraform or PulumiHands-on experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases, and the ability to optimise queries and database performanceStrong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple initiatives and stakeholdersA passion for creating a collaborative, learning-focused team environment, where innovation and best practices are encouragedExcellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersA commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality solutions that delight customers.Relevant skills :JavaScript / Node.js / TypescriptSQL (we use PostgreSQL)RESTful API designDeep knowledge of AWSTerraform / PulumiExperience working with CI / CDAutomated testing and continuous integrationStrong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyExperience working in an agile team environment, continuously shipping environmentStrong expertise in software architecture and design patterns, with a particular focus on micro-services.What's in it for you?We consider our people one of our most important assets and we want our team to love their working lives
