Seeking a Subterranean Fauna Specialist to lead biological advisors at Rio Tinto, focusing on Pilbara fauna research and field surveys.Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets.
These assets include a world-class, integrated network of 15 iron ore mines, four port facilities, a 1,700-kilometre rail network and related infrastructure.
Rio Tinto is expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety, and environmental performance.About the Role:WorkPac is currently seeking a Subterranean Fauna Specialist to join the State Agreements and Approvals team at Rio Tinto and lead a small team of biological advisors and consultants with industry research, field surveys and contribute towards the innovation in the assessment of Pilbara biological values.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience with Pilbara subterranean fauna and short-range endemic fauna.Key Responsibilities will include:Prepare and review technical documents and biological datasets, focusing on Pilbara subterranean and short-range endemic (SRE) fauna.Collaborate with the internal approvals team, project stakeholders, and other SMEs.Prepare and review scopes of work, technical reports, and datasets.Advise internal approvals specialists on biological values.Enhance biological assessment methods, processes, and technologies for continuous improvement.Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and technical specialists.Skills & Experience Required:Degree in zoology, ecology, environmental science, or equivalent.Experience with subterranean fauna, ideally in the resources sector or Pilbara region.Safely planning and preparing mobilisation for field work.Strategic thinking and ability to provide technical inputs to environmental approvals.Strong partnering and influencing skills (problem-solving and analytical skills with quick decision-making ability).Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.Experience with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS.Valid C-Class Drivers Licence.How to Apply:Click on the Apply button to submit your application or for more information please contact:WorkPac Principal Consultant: Georgia Guy on (08) 6462 1147 or ****** quoting the below reference number.Job Reference Number: 7469J20245643About WorkPacWorkPac is Australia's largest privately owned workforce solutions business.
