Job DescriptionYour Role at Histopath As a Microbiology Technical Officer, you will perform various tasks related to the receipt and accessioning of patient specimens, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently according to laboratory protocols and quality standards.
Your responsibilities include:
Process patient specimens for various microbiological, molecular, and biochemical tests, ensuring accurate and timely results, including specimen processing, entry, and reporting.Manage patient and referrer enquiries, coordinate with the Supervisor and Pathologist on testing issues, and maintain communication logs and task management.Assemble faecal collection kits and address any lab concerns promptly.Coordinate with the Supervisor and Pathologist regarding any testing issues or lab concerns.Ensure lab cleanliness, operate and maintain equipment according to manufacturer guidelines, report faults, manage inventory, and dispose of waste safely following infection control protocols.Work closely with lab staff and management to ensure smooth operations, foster a collaborative environment, and address issues related to specimen processing, quality control, and delays.Contribute to process optimization and innovation in the lab while actively pursuing learning opportunities for ongoing professional growth.What We're Looking For Open to working 6:00am - 5:00pm (with some flexibility for overtime) from Monday to Sunday.A degree in Science, Applied Science, Medical Technology, or an equivalent qualification relevant to pathology.1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting with hands-on microbiology and technical aide roles.Strong verbal and written communication with a professional telephone manner.Collaborative and proactive attitude, able to work in a fast-paced environment.Capable of identifying and solving issues efficiently.Proficient in laboratory information systems (LIMS), data entry, and office software.Strong understanding of quality processes and a commitment to meeting the highest standards.Professionalism in handling sensitive information.Teamwork | Accountability | Integrity | Continuous Improvement
