With our current Humanities Learning Area Leader moving into the role of Head of Pedagogy & Curriculum, an opportunity has arisen to lead our Humanities faculty in providing the highest quality education and to continue to develop and demonstrate a vision of excellence in Humanities.
Operating in conjunction with experienced educators, this role ensures exemplary teaching standards and learning outcomes for Humanities students and leads a team of enthusiastic Humanities teachers.
The diverse and engaging set of responsibilities available within this role include:
Leading and managing the Humanities Faculty in the Middle and Senior School, ensuring the highest standards of teaching are maintained and optimal learning outcomes for students are fostered.
Leading a robust, stimulating and challenging humanities curriculum that enhances critical thinking learning outcomes for all students.
Maintaining the development of authentic learning experiences that enrich the learning of humanities and develop cross-curricula teaching teams where potential exists.
Collaborating with the Learning and Teaching team to support the strategic direction of the School and developing a coordinated and purposeful approach to teaching and learning.
Co-ordinating a range of events and external partnerships to support and promote Humanities within and beyond the school.
Motivating and inspiring the team of teachers who contribute to a rich and diverse curriculum within their faculty.
Demonstrating excellent communication skills in a range of formal and informal settings.
Delivering exemplary humanities classes.
The successful candidate will have previous experience:
Teaching humanities and inspiring learning.
Leading in a school setting.
Motivating a dynamic team.
Managing others and working well in teams.
Utilising ICT in supporting an organisation's workflow and communications.
Leading and managing change and/or projects in line with the strategic direction of the School.
In addition, this role will require expertise teaching VCE Politics and/or Geography.
At Fintona, our teachers seek out and implement new ideas and practices to enliven our students' learning journey, provide meaningful pastoral care, and embed themselves in the ethos and life of the School.

Our teachers are integral to our student care and support in maximising their wellbeing and safety, and this role will have responsibility for a Tutor Group, attend excursions and engage in our camps (outdoor and adventure) program.
