We challenge ourselves to be creative and critical thinkers with good communication skills and the resilience necessary to succeed in an ever-changing world.Selection CriteriaDemonstrate knowledge and understanding of the teaching of instrumental music, particularly Woodwind (saxophones, oboe and clarinet), to students ranging from beginner to advanced levels, and the ability to improve learning outcomes across various music styles.Possess the technical expertise relevant to the position and demonstrate an ability to direct ensembles, choose appropriate repertoire, and engage with student interests to foster musical development.Demonstrate high-level communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, parents, teachers, and the broader school community, ensuring effective collaboration and positive relationships.Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a committed team of educators and contribute to the development of the music program.Proactively contribute to building and retaining instrumental music student enrolments and encourage student participation in ensemble programs.RoleThe Instrumental Music Instructor in this role will be responsible for providing individual Woodwind (saxophones, oboe and clarinet) instruction to high-achieving Year 9 to VCE Music Performance students. This includes preparing students for performances and exams, as well as writing end-of-term reports for parents.The position may also involve managing and rehearsing the Nossal High School Ensembles.Additionally, the successful candidate will offer administrative support to the Director of Music in organizing the extracurricular instrumental program, including tracking lesson attendance, monitoring timesheets, and maintaining student enrolments for instrumental music.Instrumental Music Instructors are expected to attend faculty meetings, assist with event preparation, and participate in events such as VCE Soirees, House Music Night, Speech Night, and other performances as needed.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of technical and performing ability, strong communication skills, and excellent organizational capabilities. Applicants must hold a current WWC registration.ResponsibilitiesDeliver high-quality individual and group music instruction.Manage the Nossal School Ensembles, including repertoire development, rehearsals, performance preparation, and related administrative duties.Maintain accurate attendance records.Prepare and present student reports to parents four times a year.Attend faculty meetings as required.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.Conditions of EmploymentAll staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements.Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided.
