About the Opportunity
The University is seeking a proven leader to fill the position of Executive Director, Office of the Vice President, Operations.
The Vice President Operations (VP Ops) is the senior executive responsible for:
Finance Human Resources Information Technology Central Operations Services Risk Workplace Health and Safety University Infrastructure The VP Ops also leads several strategic initiatives under the University's Sydney in 2032 Strategy.
The Operations portfolio has approximately 1200 FTE staff, with significant budget accountability.
As Executive Director, you will be the senior advisor to the VPOps on both routine and non-routine matters.
You will manage the operational support and advice in the delivery of strategic plans for the VPOps and lead the deployment of operational strategies, projects and initiatives.
An additional part of your remit will involve coordinating the development and presentation of the Portfolio's budget.
You will require expert communication skills with Senate (the University's governing body), University Executive, the portfolio and broader university community.
Oversight of the quality of information and coordination of workflow to University Executive, Senate and committees thereof is a key accountability of the role, requiring expertise in governance and outstanding written communication skills.
You will also be expected to take responsibility for operationalising, implementing and managing all decisions that relate to the VPOps' strategy and business planning, financial performance, stakeholder relations, regulatory compliance and control, contract negotiation and management, technology strategy and deployment, workplace health and safety, risk management and capital planning for the work area in partnership with the VPOps' leadership team.
About You
An experienced leader with a comprehensive understanding of strategic issues in Higher Education, you will have the ability to provide astute, concise, and timely management information to senior executives.
You will demonstrate outstanding organisation skills and expertise in governance, as well as exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal).
You will demonstrate extensive experience in leading the development, planning, and implementation of projects and initiatives.
You will also bring sound financial management skills including experience in planning and budget formulation.
Term and Remuneration
This is a full-time, fixed term position on a 5-year senior contract.
The successful candidate will be offered an appropriate remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
