Our Culture & Benefits: Seasonal Role from September 2024 – January 2025 An inclusive, empowering, and positive workplace, where we place people at the heart of everything we do The opportunity to have fun at work alongside passionate hospitality professionals who strive to make the world a more welcoming place The opportunity to live, work and play across the world through our employee travel and internal transfer programs A competitive rate starting at $19.25 per hour increasing to $24.06 after 3 months and bi-annual increases Complimentary meal through our Colleague Dining Program Complimentary uniform laundering The opportunity to work in a luxury hotel environment and a Vancouver heritage building with a historic legacy dating back to 1939 Free learning programs through our Academies and discounted e Cornell courses Ability to make a difference through our Corporate Social Responsibility activities Annual paid vacation, sick leave, up to statutory holidays and birthday leave A comprehensive benefits package including extended medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability benefits A company-matched pension plan and ability to enroll in the Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (GRSP) A monthly travel reimbursement for Trans Link monthly passes What you will be doing: Consistently offering thoughtful, professional, and proactive guest service Ensuring service essentials, quality and service standards are met throughout the guest experience, from arrival to departure Setting up mise en place, side stations, tables and table settings according to standards Supporting colleagues during service to ensure a consistent guest experience throughout the restaurant, including running food, refreshing beverages, cleaning and resetting tables Setting furniture and dining room in a consistent, clean, and inviting way Having full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions, menu items and preparation methods Assisting guests with menu items in an informative, engaging and helpful way Handling guest concerns swiftly and graciously, offering a remarkable recovery and a commitment to always improve Being aware of guests' dietary restrictions and allergies and ensuring proper communication between team Offering personalized and elevated service in Private Dining Room when scheduled Being knowledgeable of current promotions and loyalty program offerings Following all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage All other duties as assigned Qualifications Your experience and skills include: Service focused personality is essential with at least one year experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant required Previous experience in a luxury hotel environment preferred Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities at once Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment Ability to work cohesively and collaboratively as part of a team Highly responsible and reliable with impeccable grooming and professionalism Knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, cocktails, and specialty coffees Valid Serving It Right Certification Ability to work fluctuating schedule, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and rotating shifts Ability to speak and understand English with professional working proficiency Successful candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada; Hotel is unable to assist applicants with Canadian work authorization Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): Constant standing and walking throughout shift Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs Frequent kneeling, pushing and pulling Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps Proven ability to carry three entrée plates or more at one time Additional Information Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
