Selection Criteria

Role
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction.
This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.
Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:

Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes.
Typically, this will involve accountability for a single function, (e.g.
ensuring data is properly maintained) or the co-ordination of a work area under the direction of the principal or a manager.
Assisting teachers, within an educational program, by undertaking specific support tasks or the coordination of the support function.
Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialised student/teacher support roles (e.g.
enrolled nurses performing the role as described in schedule 3).
These roles require specific qualifications and/or training, including roles where further training must be undertaken from time to time.
The role is for a specific purpose, for which there will be direct accountability as opposed to support roles that are carried out by a range of staff performing routine tasks under direction.
Technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options.
Routine technical support in libraries, science, and information technology would be typical examples.
An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction.
Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available.
Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.
The ES Range 1-2 VET and Careers Administrator is instrumental in the organisation and administration of the VET and Pathways programs offered at Northcote High School.
Working closely with the Careers Coordinator the role requires the successful applicant to support our students enrolling and participating in VET programs whilst also liaising with VET providers and ensuring compliance requirements are met.
At times it may be necessary to share/ rotate jobs between educational support staff depending on demand and if required.
This position is not required during term breaks.
The nature of the role may require additional hours of work outside of the standard hours in which time in lieu will be provided and with notice.
The role is part time with flexibility for days worked to be discussed with the Business Manager.
The workday is 7.6 hours plus a minimum of 30 mins lunch break.

Responsibilities

In addition to the roles, duties and responsibilities of Education Support Staff in the DET (See www.education.vic.gov.au):

Maintain Careers Resources in the Careers Room, the library and the sub-school areas

Assist in updating all online resources overseen by the Careers and Vocations areas.
Ordering of resources and stationery as required, including completing of Purchase Orders and any other records required by the Business Manager

Maintain accurate student data on the VET portals for the Inner Northern and Inner East Melbourne cluster

Liaise with VET is providers and the VET Coordinator/Careers Practitioner to follow up on any issues with enrolments, attendance, VASS data, certificates, payments and charges in relation to students undertaking VET courses.
Attend VET is Network Meetings and inform the Careers Practitioner and other relevant school leaders of important information and updates

Monitor the VET is fee payments and follow up with families for collection.
Offer school support if required.
Work with the Careers Practitioner and Sub-schools to promote VET is to students and families

Work with the VASS Administrator to ensure VET is records on VASS are complete

Monitoring the student sign out book every Wednesday and Thursday to ensure that students are following the process

Complete roll monitoring and reporting every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon; liaise with the Sub-Schools if there are attendance issues

Keep records on transportation arrangements for all students undertaking VET courses offsite

Assist in preparation of careers curriculum materials for Connect classes for all students in Years 7-12 (at the direction of the sub-school or Careers Practitioner).
Entering Work Experience and Structured Workplace Learning placements into WorkExpo database as required

Liaising with teachers and students to ensure that all paperwork in relation to Ministerial Order 1413 is completed prior to students attending Work Experience and Work Placement

Phoning employers and students on placements to check on progress and identify any issues

Liaise with all parties in relation to School Based Apprenticeships, as required.
Assist Careers Practitioner in the organisation, preparation and running of all careers events, including expos, excursions, and year level events.
Assist the Careers Practitioner and the CEAV with the implementation of the Career Insights (Morrisby) program for the Year 9 cohort ¿ including test arrangements, interview scheduling and overseeing interview process

Assist in the tracking and follow up of student progress with Career Action plans using the MCP platform

Monitor and report on student progress in completing all VTAC requirements.
Complete contract requirements with Business Manager/Principal for VET provision/auspricing

Processing of purchase orders and VET invoices in accordance with DE procurement policy

Record management of student VET enrolment applications and tracking of VET provision/auspricing costs including reconciliation with the Business Manager against DE funding received for VET program

Other duties as required by the Principal or Business Manger
