We serve as both a software solutions provider and a payment processor and deliver the essential infrastructure to streamline business processes before, during and after the payment event.About the role:As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and enhancing our backend systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high performance while working with cutting-edge technologies. If you are a skilled problem-solver with a passion for building efficient and robust software, we'd love to hear from you.Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using .NET or Scala.Contribute to the architecture and design of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.Implement and optimise automated testing frameworks to ensure the highest level of code quality.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, product managers, and QA engineers, to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions.Stay updated with industry trends and best practices, driving innovation within the team.Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.About You:Whilst previous experience in a similar position would be essential, equally as important will be your demonstrated experience in the following areas:Relevant Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related fieldSolid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.Strong experience with automated testing tools and frameworksFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.Additional experience that would be preferred but not mandatory includes:Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.Exposure to event-driven architectures or messaging systems like Kafka.We welcome applicants who may not meet all criteria but possess a majority of the qualifications to apply, as we value diverse perspectives and recognise the potential for growth and development within our dynamic team.Why Join Spenda:You will be joining Spenda during an exciting period of growth.
