The modern design requires a demonstrated ability to utilise pedagogical practices suited to these learning spaces.
Alamanda is a 1-to-1-iPad/MacBook school, and uses technology to engage students with their learning, as well as meet their individual needs.
Staff must be confident and willing to engage in study of "Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works" research to support this strategy.
The primary school is based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, which is offered for the Prep to Year 6 students, the secondary school is based on the Middle Years Program, which is offered for the Year 7 to Year 9 students.
The role of the Robotics Teacher is to introduce students with an 8-week program to the first stages of simple coding.
We have an extensive range of materials and a dedicated teaching space for this program.
There is a strong focus on professional development for all staff, which includes an emphasis on building leadership capacity and implementation of best teaching practice.
The 'Practice Principles for Excellence in Teaching and Learning' and Marzano research-based instructional strategies are utilised across the school to ensure that teaching practices are purposeful and are proven to have a high impact on student learning.
Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated understanding of initiatives in student learning including the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO 2.0) and Assessment and Reporting Advice and the capacity to implement and evaluate learning and teaching programs in accordance with the Victorian curriculum.
SC2 Demonstrated high level classroom teaching skills and the capacity to work with colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning with a focus on digital technology - robotics.
SC3 Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning data and to use this data to inform teaching for improved student learning, with a major focus on digital technology.
SC4 Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including the capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with staff as you focus on digital technologies with a main focus on coding through the use of robotics.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, including a commitment and capacity to actively contribute to and manage major curriculum or student activities with a focus on digital technology and a commitment to continually improving teaching quality and capacity through the application of knowledge, skills and expertise derived from ongoing professional development and learning.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
