Alamanda is a 1-to-1 iPad/MacBook school, and uses technology to engage students with their learning, as well as meet their individual needs.
Staff must be confident and willing to engage in study of "Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works" research to support this strategy.
The primary school is based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, which is offered for the Prep to Year 6 students, while the secondary school is based on the Middle Years Program, offered for Year 7 to Year 9 students.
The PYP & MYP Learner Profile underpins the management of students and has helped to build a positive and engaging learning environment.

We have an extensive range of materials and a dedicated teaching space for this program.
There is a strong focus on professional development for all staff, which includes an emphasis on building leadership capacity and implementation of best teaching practices.
The 'Practice Principles for Excellence in Teaching and Learning' and Marzano research-based instructional strategies are utilised across the school to ensure that teaching practices are purposeful and proven to have a high impact on student learning.
The school motto is "Dare to be Wise," which underpins the management of student engagement and teaching pedagogy.
Leadership and the teaching staff strive to implement a guaranteed, viable, and rigorous differentiated curriculum that promotes lifelong learning and encourages students to become global citizens.
Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated understanding of initiatives in student learning including the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO 2.0) and Assessment and Reporting Advice, and the capacity to implement and evaluate learning and teaching programs in accordance with the Victorian curriculum.
SC2: Demonstrated high-level classroom teaching skills and the capacity to work with colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning with a focus on digital technology - robotics.
SC3: Demonstrated ability to monitor and assess student learning data and to use this data to inform teaching for improved student learning, with a major focus on digital technology.
SC4: Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including the capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with staff as you focus on digital technologies with a main focus on coding through the use of robotics.
SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, including a commitment and capacity to actively contribute to and manage major curriculum or student activities with a focus on digital technology and a commitment to continually improving teaching quality and capacity through the application of knowledge, skills, and expertise derived from ongoing professional development and learning.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.
As the classroom teacher gains experience, their contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases.
All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training, and experience of the teacher.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Undertaking other classroom teaching-related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
Conditions of EmploymentAll staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements.Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided.VIT LANTITETo be eligible for employment, transfer, or promotion in the principal or teacher class, a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016 must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
