Location: Eight Mile Plains, Queensland Type: Contract Job #17254 Overview Our financial services client is looking to engage a skilled Data Governance Expert on a contract basis.
In this role, you will lead and advise on critical data governance initiatives, driving improvements in data management and quality while ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
This is an exciting opportunity to help mitigate data risks and enhance data literacy across the organization.
Responsibilities Advise on and develop data governance strategies, focusing on regulatory compliance with industry standards.
Assist in shaping and implementing a data management framework to improve the governance and quality of data assets.
Define and report on key risk indicators and metrics related to data, ensuring compliance with data-related policies, standards, processes, and guidelines.
Design and roll out processes to measure and expose the quality of data assets, ensuring they comply with regulatory requirements.
Support the continuous improvement and strengthening of key privacy standards and controls across divisions, leveraging extensive knowledge of industry best practices and Group policies.
Design and manage privacy programs, uplifting organizational maturity in data privacy and protection.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data governance practices align with business goals and regulatory obligations.
Provide support and guidance to ensure data is owned and governed, data quality is maximized, and data objectives are realized.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to ensure ongoing compliance with privacy and data protection regulations.
Skills Significant experience within a senior privacy or data protection role, ideally acquired in a complex, matrixed financial services organization.
Professional privacy qualifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) are highly regarded.
Must have recent and in-depth experience in the financial services industry.
Demonstrated experience in designing and managing privacy programs and uplifting organizational maturity in this area.
Proven experience managing data risks and related compliance/assurance activities.
Experience in developing and implementing internal controls, governance policies, and procedures based on regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of business and technology issues related to the management of enterprise data assets and the protection of data.
Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and standards governing data compliance.
Experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks and processes within the financial services industry.
Strong communication skills, capable of educating staff to increase data literacy and ensure safe data use.
