The IC is assisted in carrying out their functions under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) by the Privacy Commissioner, Right to Information Commissioner and OIC staff.The OIC promotes and protects the right of Queenslanders' to access government-held information and ensure their personal information is lawfully collected, held and used by Queensland government agencies.A key focus of our work involves providing guidance and information to agencies and the public to raise awareness and understanding of information access and privacy rights and responsibilities under the RTI and IP Acts.
This includes proactively engaging with Queensland government agencies and providing training and education to build capability within the public sector and promote best practice.We foster an inclusive workplace culture that respects and promotes human rights and diversity.
