Job type: Full Time - Fixed TermOrganisation: Department of Transport and PlanningOccupation: IT and TelecommunicationsReference: 6496About the RoleFull Time - Fixed Term until 08/12/2026The Technical Specialist will be responsible for managing and supporting technology components of Victorian Transport Digital Engineering for the department.
This will involve managing and optimizing the cloud environments on Microsoft Azure.
You will work closely with our internal and external clients to understand their requirements, design solutions, and ensure the smooth operation of their cloud infrastructure.
The role requires expertise in BIM Infrastructure (Building Information Modelling/ 3D Models, Imagery (SPI) Drawing Management System (DMS)), Autodesk Construction Cloud, IBM Maximo) and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.We are seeking a results-driven professional with accomplished skills in critical thinking, innovation, and digital literacy to lead system design, release management, and capacity planning.
The ideal candidate excels in customer-focused service delivery, fosters collaboration, and drives continuous improvement, while effectively managing risks and leveraging cutting-edge tools and techniques.Position Outcomes / AccountabilitiesAdministration of department's data platforms Infrastructure.Design, deploy, and manage Data solutions (example: Building Information Modelling) on department's cloud infrastructure.Perform admin functions like user onboarding, Subscription and contract management, license management, setting user permissions, create and manage support tickets, incident triage, test case management, Document, and record management.Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of environments.Monitor and optimize resources for performance and cost efficiency.Work with project teams to support design and deployment of solutions.Serve as a technical advisor for clients, providing guidance on best practices and strategic direction.Collaborate with other team members, including solution architects, developers, and project managers.Automate deployment and management processes using Azure DevOps and other tools.Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.Work with Vendors as needed.Qualifications and ExperienceMandatoryTertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent.Experience in one or more of the Strategic Platforms.Cloud expertise and management.What we offerMeaningful work making Victorian communities more accessible and liveable.Professional growth and development opportunities across the department and the wider Victorian Public Services.A hybrid working model focused on collaboration and teamwork.Optimal work-life balance initiatives including flexible working arrangements.Opportunity to work across multiple urban and suburban hubs.We prioritise the development of a safe and inclusive culture.Culture ValueWe are an equal opportunity employer, embracing a diverse range of applicants such as veterans, and people who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, LGBTQIA community members, individuals with disabilities and/or health conditions, as well as those from varied faith and cultural backgrounds.
