About the Role CareSouth is seeking casual Support Workers to provideindividualised 24/7 support for young people living in our Goulburnprogram.
Our young people come from a background of trauma and weare looking for people who will work with their strengths to seethem thrive.

The overall responsibilities of the Support Worker are topromote a consistent and considered person-centred approach to thedirect care of young people who reside in residential care,ensuring individual needs are met.
Support Workers provideemotional support and crisis intervention, maintain a safe andwelcoming home environment, and encourage young people to developtheir social and living skills.
Additional duties includeundertaking household and daily general duties, participating inregular team and organisational meetings and training.
You will be a person who can uphold our values, exercisespatience and resilience and exhibits a very nurturing demeanour.
Weare looking for individuals who place children first and aremotivated to do what is best for them.
A typical day in the life of an Support Worker couldinclude:
Building and developing independent living skillsAssisting with household dutiesEncouraging achievement of goalsTransporting young people to and from appointmentsDaily care and supportAssist with engagement in education & extracurricularactivities such as sport or artSupporting connection to family & cultureUtilising support from internal & external specialistservices such as Speech Therapists & Behaviour SupportPractitionersWe are looking forindividuals who fulfil the following criteria: Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, youngpeople and people with a disability.Qualifications in Residential Care, a Certificate IV inCommunity Services, Welfare or other related areas.
(Youmay be currently undertaking and/or willing to obtain withinthe first 12 months of employment)Current First Aid CertificateDemonstrated ability to deliver services based on anunderstanding of the impact of trauma on behaviour anddevelopment of children and adults.Understanding of or experience in implementing therapeuticinterventions and behaviour management strategies.A positive attitude to engaging with children and youngpeople in a nurturing environment under a therapeuticmodel.Demonstrated experience in being able to manage dutiesassociated with home management.The ability to work independently and under limitedsupervision.Contribute to the effective operation of the team bysupporting colleagues through clear and effectivecommunication, sharing of appropriate and relevant informationand working cooperatively with others.Willingness to work a flexible roster, including weekends,evenings and sleepovers.Do you want to be a part of somethinggreat?
