Horse Trainer/Junior Foreperson

Horse TrainerMichael Freedman Racing Pty Ltd are currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join their stable. Positions are full-time and available at Randwick and Hawkesbury. The successful applicant/s must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.
Horse Trainer/Junior Foreperson:Plan and implement training regimes and feeding plans and reviewing and making adjustments when necessaryRecord all horse training data and ensuring accurate and up to date records are maintained for all veterinary, horse health and racing related activitiesProvide reports and statistics to owners as directed by the head trainersEnsure client and owner communication is maintained to the highest levelAdvise head trainer on factors affecting horses and their educationSupervise horse feeding program to ensure optimum fitness and performanceAttend race day events and performing all duties associated including travelling with horses, strapping at races and all care for the horses as required, including presenting horses to stewardsYoung Horse Trainer/Rider:Able to ride horses per morning (with particular emphasis on riding pace/timed work and jump outs)Able to educate our horses on the ground with ability to manage a small team of horses and staff and prepare horse training reports for the head trainerDemonstrated ability to manage client communication and training systems designed to track the horses in training.Essential Skills:Applicants must have a minimum of at least 3-year full time professional experience in the roleKnowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racingProven ability to train and educate young horsesOral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide informationKnowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipmentSound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorsesDesirable Qualification:A Certificate IV or equivalent international qualificationTerms of EmploymentThe salary will be above award – in the range of $55,000 to $80,000 per annum depending upon the level of skill.
