General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management)

We are a private holding company for a group of small to medium sized consulting and software entities in the environmental, ecology and urban greening space.
We have grown organically and through acquisition to become a significant player and contributor in our space.
Our unique model leverages the market and technical strengths of each business in our portfolio to create synergies in client satisfaction and business efficiency.
Our entities provide environmentally related services, working on everything from major infrastructure and construction projects to bushfire planning and disaster response, with state and local government authorities, on flora, fauna and arboricultural surveys and protection, and urban greening.
We are leading innovators in applying systems, technologies and AI to achieve great client and environmental outcomes.
Responsibilities
Manage a group of small to medium-sized consulting and software businesses within the organisation.
Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability of the businesses.
Transition management for former owners of acquired businesses to executive management.
Oversee day-to-day performance, including financial management, senior staff management, and key client, agency and supplier relations.
Lead and mentor a team of managers and employees to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
Collaborate with boards and directors to ensure strategic alignment and delivery.
Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for expansion and innovation through organic growth and acquisition.
Ensure appropriate governance and compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and partners.
Analyse performance metrics and KPIs to track the success of the businesses and make data-driven decisions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications and capabilities
Proven track record of successful leadership, business building and management of consulting and/or software businesses.
Tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Biological or Environmental Sciences, Horticulture, Ecology or Arboriculture.
Demonstrable interest in environmental issues.
Strong business acumen and strategic planning skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve organisational objectives.
Knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Experience in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
Proficiency in project management tools and software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
