We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney.
We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater.Job DescriptionFull Time (37.5 hours per week)Both Day Shifts (9.00 am - 5.00 pm) and Afternoon Shifts (2.00 pm - 10.00 pm) are availablePotential Saturday, Sunday and public holiday rosters are available on requestThe role is based in Murarrie QLD 4172Entry-level position with great opportunity for career advancementRecent graduates with university/TAFE lab experience encouraged to applyThe Laboratory Assistant is responsible for assisting the laboratory function by ensuring all samples are appropriately prepared and analysed in a timely manner while assisting with various other laboratory duties, to achieve operational, customer and quality requirements.Reporting to the Team Leader, the role will focus on the following duties:Sample receipt and documentationComputer login of client and sample detailsSample weighing and allocationProcessing of food, water, soil, cosmetics, air and environmental samples for chemical and/or microbiological analysisComputer input analysis resultsPerformance of simple analysis culture readingPerformance of equipment quality control and maintenanceAssisting office staff when requiredAssisting with laboratory's store management systemEnsuring an efficient and on-time sample flow in and out of the laboratoryAssisting with the control of samples and supplies in all laboratory areasEnsure efficient utilisation of laboratory equipment and materialsQualificationsCertificate / Diploma in Laboratory Techniques; or equivalent qualification; or significant laboratory experience.About YouTo be successful for this position, you will need to demonstrate the following qualities and characteristics:Experience in a laboratory will be an advantage but not essentialExcellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts deliberately, logically and directlyAble to work in a fast-paced environment on tight deadlinesStrong attention to detailExcellent organizational skills and ability to multi-taskOn the job training will be provided, along with the use of our systems and programs.
