About the role Reporting to the Team Leader, the Nugel Case Manager will have the opportunity to make a real-life difference in the lives of Aboriginal Children and families involved in the child protection system.
This position will be responsible for working with Aboriginal children and families, Government and sector partners to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal children in care and in contact with the Child Protection system, strive for better outcomes for children, and build capacity in families so that children can be transitioned home.
About You Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA's vision and purposeExperience working in the child, youth and family services sector (highly desirable)A recognised Social Work/Community Services diploma or a similar welfare or behavioural related degree which includes a focus on child development/counselling or casework practice (mandatory)Proven experience in completing assessments, including assessments of risks and developing, implementing, and reviewing plans for children and young peopleProven ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with Aboriginal children and families, demonstrating effective and culturally appropriate interpersonal skillsDemonstrated understanding of child development, attachment, and trauma as they relate to Aboriginal childrenDemonstrated ability to work in a complex, fast-paced team, and to demonstrate resilience in managing competing demandsRequirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain), and a Victorian Driver Licence.What we can offer you 5 weeks annual leaveAccess to child protection and VACCA training programsExtensive support and training from VACCA's in-house legal serviceA supportive environment that includes comprehensive induction and regular internal supervisionProfessional development and training opportunitiesAttractive salary packaging to increase your take-home payFitness Passport - allowing you (and your family) access to any of the facilities available on this program17.5% loading on annual leaveAccess to agency vehicles for all work-related travelAccess to Employee support and wellbeing programsPaid parental leave after 12 months of ongoing employmentOpportunity to work and build connection with the Aboriginal Community and cultureWe strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply Applications should include a cover letter addressing the key selection criteria and a current resume.
