Associate / Solicitor

We are seeking a Sydney based Associate or Solicitor (1-3 PQE+) within our Casualty & Commercial Lines practice group on a full-time basis. This role reports into Practice Group Lead and Partner, Iona Sjahadi.
As an Associate/Solicitor within the HBA Legal Team, you will provide advice and assistance to our clients in dealing with their legal matters. You can contribute to the firm's success by supporting senior fee-earners to build relationships with clients and representing our values-based approach to our work within the market. Working under the guidance of the senior members of your team, you will grow your technical skills in key areas such as legal writing, research and information synthesis, analytical thinking and commercial acumen.
What you'll be doing in this role:
Undertake and complete work with the expected level of guidance and supervision.
Proactively share knowledge, experience and insights with immediate and wider team in order to enhance client experience and internal knowledge management.
Provide advice and manage files in a clear and logical manner within required timeframes developing sound case management strategies.
Take an engaged and curious approach to work, professional development and the law in general.
Confer with colleagues and experts with specialties to establish and verify basis for legal position and strategic decisions.
Ensure understanding and compliance with firm's policies and procedures.
Delegate and manage work direction to administrative assistants.
Ensure you stay abreast of industry updates including constitution, statutes, decisions, regulation and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies to determine ramifications for cases.
Maintain and develop strong client relationships through participating in value adding activities and support, keeping clients informed of case progress during the course of the matter.
Be a HBA brand ambassador through demonstrating support and contributing to the firm's strategic vision and values.

Are able to demonstrate strong communication skills through building mutually beneficial relationships both internally and externally and the ability to engage openly with people at all levels including senior level decision makers.
Have the ability to manage diary, Court timetables and workload effectively across multiple matters.
Regularly liaise with team leads in relation to work progress and demonstrates creativity and willingness to be involved in tactical decisions.
Are open to learning new things and willingness to inject oneself into new opportunities.
Have the desire to rapidly expand knowledge base and practical legal skills.
Contribute well to the team and works collaboratively and effectively across the organization.
Demonstrate effective time management and work organisation in order to monitor progress and meet KPI and budget requirements.
Take accountability for processes, actions and decisions under their control; consistently delivers work of the required quality.
