Add expected salary to your profile for insightsCbus Property is seeking an Engineering Manager to work closely with our onsite teams to deliver high-standard project outcomes and drive operational excellence across the portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Investment Operations, this role will provide specialised assistance and expert advice to the wider Cbus Property business, management of robust governance practices across the property portfolio, and to ensure seamless communication and coordination across all levels of investment and property management.This role will play a key role in championing technology and driving on-site teams to identify efficiencies and value-add opportunities to ensure Cbus Property is market-leading in this space.About UsCbus Property is a wholly owned entity of Cbus Super, the industry superannuation fund for the construction, building and allied industries, with funds under management exceeding $90 billion as at 31 January 2024.Cbus Property is responsible for the strategic performance and management of all aspects of the Cbus direct property investment business, including major investments and developments in the commercial office, residential and retail sectors. The property portfolio currently exceeds $6.5 billion, with a further $4.5 billion of development work 'in hand', making Cbus Property one of Australia's leading integrated property investors and developers.Key Responsibilities:Support the Senior Manager, Investment Operations, including assisting in preparation of strategic asset plans and reports, providing analysis and insights to aid in decision-making, manage day-to-day operational tasks, coordinate meetings and communications with internal and external stakeholders.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards across the property portfolio, maintaining high levels of governance.Develop and implement governance frameworks to maintain high levels of compliance.Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments with external partners including AON and FM Global.Provide direction and training updates with external partners on regulatory changes and compliance requirements to property teams.Manage the implementation by the property management providers of contractual agreements from negotiation to execution.Ensure all contracts entered by property management teams are compliant with Cbus Property company policies and legal requirements.Review and assess contractual terms to achieve favourable conditions and mitigate risks.Maintain a comprehensive contract management system.Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures that align with Cbus Property delegations for operational and capital expenditure.Drive property managers in conducting market research to identify cost-effective procurement opportunities.Manage vendor relationships and seek to leverage portfolio scale to negotiate favourable terms.Implement and monitor procurement processes to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness, including identification of opportunities to reduce external consulting costs at both the head office and asset levels.Provide expert WHS, compliance and operational advice to Investment Managers.Identify and implement operational sustainability projects with the property management teams across the property portfolio.Provide leadership and direction to site-based property management operations teams.Oversee project planning, execution, and completion to ensure alignment with Cbus Property's objectives.Collaborate with Investment Managers to ensure operational solutions align with project goals and asset plans.Provide in-depth technical advice to the Investment and Development Management teams.Key Skills and Experience:Tertiary qualification in Engineering, or a related discipline (preferable)Strong experience in operational services and facilities management (approx. 10 years)Demonstrated experience in operations management and consulting in an existing built environment, with demonstrated exposure in WHS compliance, plant and building maintenance or minor capital work delivery projects in Premium and A grade assets.High level of financial aptitude, commercial acumen, analytical skills and computer literacy, with the ability to manage the operational aspects within high quality assets.Demonstrated ability to add value to assets through identifying value enhancing and/or essential capital works.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders.Ability to perform in a multi-faceted role delivering all aspects to a very high standard and high level of attention to detail.Professional attitude to work with ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant systems and applications.What we offerAt Cbus Property, we empower our people through an authentic culture of flexibility, diversity and inclusion.
