They offer a collaborative work environment, continuous learning opportunities, and a focus on fostering leadership in HSE.About the Role:As the Head of Occupational Safety, you will be at the forefront of designing and leading safety frameworks, setting company-wide standards for occupational safety and hygiene.
This is a strategic leadership role that requires collaboration with senior stakeholders, external regulatory bodies, and internal HSE teams.
You will have the opportunity to influence major business decisions, drive consistency across operations, and champion a proactive safety culture.Responsibilities: Lead the development and governance of occupational safety and hygiene frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Define and oversee critical safety controls as part of the risk management framework.Partner with business units to drive consistent HSE practices while accommodating operational needs.Engage with external stakeholders, including industry bodies and government agencies, to influence policy and adopt best practices.Lead incident investigations using methodologies such as ICAM, ensuring lessons are learned and improvements implemented.Monitor and analyse safety data and trends to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement.Mentor and coach HSE teams to enhance capabilities and foster a culture of safety excellence.Manage contracts with shared service providers, ensuring alignment with organisational safety standards.To Be Successful:A minimum of 10 years in HSE management within high-risk industries such as energy, oil & gas, or utilities.Proven track record in leading safety programs, influencing senior leaders, and successfully managing complex HSE challenges.Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded).Desirable certifications include Certified OHS Professional (AIHS) or Certified Environmental Practitioner (EIANZ).Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and strategic decision-making capabilities.Advanced expertise in risk management, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.In-depth understanding of HSE legislation, industry standards, and codes of practice.A demonstrated ability to drive change, foster innovation, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.#J-18808-Ljbffr
