YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE The Associate Nurse Unit Manager – Ambulatory Cell Therapies Ongoing, Part-Time position The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is responsible for the supervision and coordination of delivering evidence based clinical nursing care, using best practice activities, quality systems compliance and excellence in patient and donor management.
This is a position of clinical leadership and accountability that aligns with Peter Macs values.
This includes management of ACT (Ambulatory Cellular Therapies) Departments (Apheresis and 1E) through the coordination of nursing activities and related services for the provision of quality patient focused care in conjunction with other members of the leadership team.
The ANUM is required to develop clinical competence in both Apheresis and 1E and will be required to rotate between the two areas, as well as supporting all nurses through their clinical rotations.
The ideal candidate will meet the following essential requirements: Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

Must have recent Apheresis experience.
Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and continuing professional development.

Membership of relevant professional organization i.e., CNSA.

Desirable requirements: Post graduate qualification in area of specialty and/or management.
Demonstrated ability to lead coordination of care of patients across the care continuum.
Demonstrated involvement in professional activities or portfolio in a clinical area.
Recent experience in Hematology or Medical Oncology.

The role of the Associate Nurse Unit Manger is to support the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and undertake their role when required.
Guided by the NUM, the ANUM will support revision of haematology policy and procedures relevant to ACT.
They will also assist the NUM in leading continuous clinical improvement.
The ANUM is required to develop clinical competence in both Apheresis and the Infusion Centre, and will be required to rotate between the two areas, as well as supporting all nurses through their clinical rotations.

Ensures all staff function within legal requirements of their scope of practice Promotes a participative team environment that recognizes the skills and abilities of individual team members and promote staff to acquire new skills Evidence of mentorship of staff Provides leadership of the unit in the absence of the NUM Contributes to and represents own clinical service and nursing services through committees and working groups Effective Resource Management Responsible for daily coordination of staff ensuring the safe and efficient service is provided Manages staff and resources efficiently and manages the daily and future roster Supports the orientation of new staff members, contributes to and participates in staff recruitment and supports NUM with staff appraisals Promotes an environment which encourages awareness of financial resources and targets Supports NUM with processes to improve financial variances Key Accountabilities (Contd..) Contributes to clinical practice, education and research Participates in the development of formal and informal educational sessions to continuously improve clinical practice Collaborates with the NUM and clinical nurses to determine priorities for educational sessions Encourages staff attendance at hospital in-service programmers, external conferences and short course program Supports nursing research to promote clinical knowledge development and evidence based clinical practice Systematically evaluates own practice and identifies pertinent areas of clinical practice, management and education for investigation Ensures clinical practice is based on best practice standards in oncology nursing and current policies and procedures Quality and Improvement Works collaboratively with the NUM to establish and enable a culture of performance improvement and evaluation, and develops and evaluates new initiatives to mitigate risk, ensuring quality of nursing care and excellent patient outcomes Supports the NUM with the development of KPIs and quality activities for the Service.
Ensures adherence and delivery against Service KPIs through active engagement with staff and role modelling Participates in relevant unit activities including audits and reporting to monitor and report against standards of clinical practice and recommend improvements Supports the NUM with preparation and successful participation of the clinical unit in accreditation activities Demonstrated leadership and promotion of implementation of evidence-based practice Peter Mac requires its staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
