Assistant Underwriter

Position: Assistant Underwriter – Motor FleetThis permanent full-time role, which is based in either Melbourne or Sydney, is a great opportunity for someone who is a keen learner and who would like to build skills to further their career development.
You will be provided with training and guidance and play a pivotal role supporting our Motor underwriting team nationally.
You should possess exceptional attention to detail and be a great team player with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation.
Duties will include (but not limited to): Accurate completion of premium and reinsurance calculations for processing;Provide oversight and control of all processed premium for weekly reconciliation including any unclosed business;Assist Underwriters with renewals and file preparation including technical pricing data completion;Assist with the preparation and issuance of policy wordings, endorsements, premium calculations and tax allocations;Preparation, maintenance and overview of underwriting files and slips;Assist with reviewing quote opportunities across trading platforms for referral and discussion with the underwriting team;Monitor outstanding quotations and pending renewals, tracking and updating progress through maintenance of the renewal and quotation registers;Respond to broker queries and requests;Build relationships with HDI's insurance partners including intermediaries and clients;Co-ordinate outstanding debtors and liaise with the Policy Operations and Credit Control Teams;Create and maintain the electronic filing system;Provide general administration and underwriting support nationally.Skills and Experience: Minimum 12 months of general Insurance experience preferred, but will consider relevant qualifications or other experience;High level of numeracy and computer literacy required, demonstration of studies and grades achieved either at High School or University;Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) demonstrated in current role;Ability to show initiative and pro-activeness in the completion of tasks;Commenced or completed ANZIIF qualifications;University degree or equivalent further education.If you have excellent organisational skills, a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, and are a motivated, proactive and professional individual, this is an excellent opportunity to be part of our growing team.
