Find out more at sea.museum.The Registrar Collections and Access plays a key role within the Registration team to preserve and share the Museum's National Maritime Collection (NMC). This role will manage and contribute to the policy, procedures and documentation for safe storage, movement and handling of the NMC and administration of the collection database as well as the digitisation of the collection for collection access and management. This role will organise the loan and shipment of historic objects in the museum's collection and care and manage aspects of installation and demount of collection objects and loans for exhibitions and programs including travelling exhibitions.Key AccountabilitiesUnder limited direction, this position is responsible for delivering the following functions:Selection CriteriaComprehensive understanding of the role of a Registration team and detailed operational knowledge of the collection management and documentation requirements and processes involved in a major museum or similar institution.Demonstrated ability and practical knowledge of the physical and legal requirements for the acquisition, loan, movement, and storage of museum objects and experience in object documentation and loan management.High level skills and knowledge in administering a museum collection management application including use of administrative tools and custom report writing with a focus on collections management, locations and barcoding and exhibitions.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team in a collaborative environment, fast changing environment and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Well-developed organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.Qualifications and/or relevant experience requiredMandatoryDesirableWhen applying via our online e-recruitment system, please provide a written application addressing each Selection Criteria.
