Head of Department - General Medicine (515768)Australia, TasThe Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels.The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of General Medicine is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Head of Department – General Medicine position.We seek an experienced and enthusiastic Staff Specialist passionate about practicing holistic general medicine, leading and mentoring medical staff, and contributing to quality improvement in a growing general medicine department.Who are we?Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre.
As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.
All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.General medicine is the largest inpatient department in the hospital with excellent subspecialty support and opportunities for clinicians to be involved in research, clinical redesign, and quality improvement.

You will have a powerful connection to your patients and your colleagues, and the community will encourage your success.Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) AwardA remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.Details of Appointment:Fixed term, part timeDay work (with on-call), working up to 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 3 years.Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to undertake a minimum of 19 hours per fortnight in clinical work with the option of increasing up to 38 hours.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.Minimum Requirements:Holds specialist registration.Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway.Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the specialty.The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
