This provides a unique opportunity to gain high level experience in multiple areas of environmental health that will provide invaluable experience in your environmental health career.As part of the team, you will be responsible for:Assessing food business registration and fitout applications.Conducting routine food safety inspections.Investigating food safety complaints.Participating in the management of food poisoning outbreaks.Issuing enforcement documents and drafting prosecution briefs.Conducting routine and three-part legal food sampling.Swimming pool and cooling tower inspections and water sampling.Assessing compliance against relevant Codes of Practice.Gaining experience in hoarding and squalor under the Public Health Act.Attending exhumations to provide health oversight.Assessing development applications for potential public health concerns.Trapping and monitoring mosquitoes.Collecting recreation water samples across 17 sites in the ACT and potable and recreational water samples in Jervis Bay.Participating in quality assurance activities and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures.Engaging in continuous in-house professional development.A training budget is also available for external training providers.We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community.
