The Polyglot Group is seeking a General Manager APAC for our client, based in Sydney, for a full-time position.
Description Your key responsibilities will include formulating overall strategy, managing personnel, and driving profitability.
Success in this role requires a thoughtful leader and confident decision-maker who can develop our team and ensure productivity and growth.
Strategy and Management Formulating Overall Strategy:
• Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and achieve business objectives in the APAC region.
• Set clear goals and KPIs for the team and ensure alignment with the company's vision and mission.Team Leadership and Development:
• Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of new employees.
• Conduct regular individual follow-ups, team meetings, and performance reviews to ensure continuous improvement and high performance.Operational Efficiency:
• Evaluate and improve business operations to enhance efficiency and profitability.
• Analyse performance metrics and present regular reports to upper management.Representation and Public Engagement:
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and through public speaking engagements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners.Sales Outbound Strategy Development:
• Create and execute an outbound strategy to identify and engage new potential clients.
• Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline.Sales Team Coaching and Support:
• Provide regular coaching and support to Sales executives to help them close deals more effectively.
• Conduct weekly sales meetings to review progress and address challenges.Forecasting and Reporting:
• Forecast sales results on a quarterly basis and review the sales pipeline weekly.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales activities and outcomes.Commercial Opportunities:
• Identify and qualify new commercial opportunities, including Enterprise and high-potential mid-market accounts.
• Respond to Tenders, RFIs, RFQs, and other business inquiries.Deal Negotiation and Closing:
• Negotiate and close deals while maintaining control of the sales cycle.
• Manage both short sales cycles and long-term high-potential deals.Customer Success Collaboration:
• Work closely with the Customer Success team to reduce churn and increase customer satisfaction.
• Ensure a seamless transition from sales to customer success to maintain strong client relationships.Skills Leadership and Management:
• Strong leadership abilities to inspire and manage teams.
• Excellent organizational skills to oversee multiple functions and departments.
• Ability to make confident and informed decisions.Strategic Thinking:
• Capability to formulate and implement effective business strategies.
• Analytical skills to evaluate business performance and market trends.Sales and Business Development:
• Proven track record in sales, particularly in the APAC region.
• Ability to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.Communication:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to represent the company at events and in public speaking engagements.Problem-Solving:
• Strong problem-solving aptitude to address challenges and find effective solutions.Cultural Awareness:
• Understanding of the diverse cultures within the APAC region.
• Ability to navigate and manage cross-cultural interactions effectively.Qualifications Experience:
• Proven experience as a General Manager or in a similar executive role within the APAC region (typically a minimum of 12 years in energy retail, generation, or related sectors).Education:
• Relevant bachelor's degree or higher qualification in management, business, or a related field.Industry Knowledge:
• Knowledge of wholesale power and environmental markets.
• Knowledge of business processes and functions, including finance, HR, procurement, and operations.Soft Skills:
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and able to work autonomously.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.Language Skills:
• Fluency in English and French is essential.Salary range: 250K to 300K
