About the Team Downer's Energy & Utilities business unit is an integrated trans-Tasman team, providing services and solutions that connect communities to essential networks and infrastructure.
We design, build, operate and maintain today's critical assets and networks, delivering complete services across the water, electricity, telecommunications, industrial and power generation sectors.
Our expertise spans in-house technical smarts, specialist engineering, integrated OEM partners, and dedicated crews of qualified tradespeople.

Job Description THE ROLE
Our Power Projects team is currently handling multiple significant clean energy power projects and is searching for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team.
You will help lead a landmark Power Transmission Line project in NSW.

This role requires FIFO (Fly In, Fly Out) or DIDO (Drive In, Drive Out) on a 20:8 roster, with Living Away from Home Allowance (LAHA) and site uplift included as part of a generous salary package.
As a member of a larger team, you will report to the Program Director and collaborate closely with the Project Manager and frontline leaders.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide practical construction expertise, ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and meets quality standards.

Some of the key responsibilities include:
Assess risks in construction to ensure safe execution and compliance with environmental and quality standards.
Coordinate and manage construction engineering activities to ensure timely, budget-friendly, and quality-driven project delivery.
Lead by example and consistently promote key aspects of Zero Harm when working with operational teams.
Collaborate with operations to form active and effective business improvement teams that eliminate waste and minimise operational costs.
Take the lead in managing subcontractors while advising on commercial matters and performance.
ABOUT YOU
A Bachelor of Engineering or similar qualification and a current or eligible membership with Engineers Australia is preferred.
Exposure to HV Power Transmission or Substation projects is ideal.
Good communication skills with the ability to engage with key stakeholders up and downstream.
