The Education Coordinator Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) will plan, develop, deliver and evaluate education activities and resources to meet current and emergent Mater staff and community learning needs.
Reporting to the Interprofessional Education Manager, you will support the achievement of educational and clinical excellence across our Mater Mothers Hospital Brisbane campus and will be accountable for the delivery of education and practice development outcomes and the implementation of High Value Healthcare.
ResponsibilitiesPlan, develop, implement, and evaluate interprofessional learning and development opportunities and evidence-based resources to meet the needs of Mater and the communityBenchmark education and specialty practices against national and international standardsDevelop tailored learning plans in collaboration with stakeholders for staff requiring additional supportEngage in educational research and quality improvement opportunitiesSupport professional development and performance management processes, assessing staff against regulatory and competency standardsIncorporate simulation methodology to enhance skill, knowledge, and teamwork in an interprofessional environmentSeek opportunities for innovation and improvement in education and patient care practicesCollaborate with Nurse Unit Managers and Clinical Facilitators to ensure staff compliance with mandatory education requirementsPromote critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, and empowermentDevelop evidence-based assessment resources for staff and studentsDevelop, implement, and evaluate an Education Plan aligned with Mater's strategic and operational goalsManage relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to drive change and improve servicesCollaborate in the development of policies and practice as an advisor to executives and leadersEnsure development and succession plans are in place for the roleLiaise with other Education Coordinators and Clinical Facilitators to support skills enhancement and clinical practice consistencyRole model transformational leadership attributes and traitsAbout youCurrent and unrestricted registration and endorsement (where applicable) with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) as a Registered NursePostgraduate qualification (preferably master's degree) in teaching (clinical teaching) or education equivalentPostgraduate qualification in relevant specialty area or working towards sameCertificate IV in Training and Assessment (current - desirable)Knowledge and experience in delivering education and training within Australian healthcare organisationsInnovative approach to achieving education outcomes in support of healthcare deliveryProficiency in using Microsoft 365 suite, electronic information systems/platforms, and educational theory to develop resources and reporting functionsStrong time management and organizational skillsIn-depth understanding of contemporary adult education and clinical issuesAbility to initiate, coordinate, and evaluate quality improvement initiatives in education and clinical environmentsExcellent interpersonal skillsAdvanced oral and written communication skillsStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to negotiate, develop, and deliver various training solutions, including end-user support, classroom training, presentations, and online learningAdaptability to changing demands in a dynamic and evolving organisationDemonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as autonomously and collaborativelyProficiency in data gathering, analysis, and synthesis to inform changes in clinical practice and processMater is Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, providing care for almost 700,000 patients a year across a network of 11 hospitals.
