HD Mechanic Leading Hand | Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic | Perth Based Allwest Plant Hire Australia is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic Leading Hand to join our team in Forrestdale.
As a key member of our workshop crew, you will supervise the workshop team and oversee the planning of repairs and maintenance to the fleet.
We service clients state-wide in mining and civil and host a growing fleet of various makes of earthmoving equipment, continuously meeting client demand.
Qualifications: An Australian recognised Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic Trade Qualification and Construction Induction card (White Card)Unlimited Australian work rights (no restrictions)A minimum of 5 years' experience as a HD Diesel Mechanic, working both in the field and in the workshop environment on a variety of plant / equipment / trailers.Experience as a leading hand or in supervision / leadership rolesPassionate about all things mechanical with an ability to think critically to assist in diagnosing complex mechanical problems.A thorough approach to quality assurance, ensuring accurate assessments and reporting on checklistsSolid knowledge of Heavy Duty Equipment, with experience working on all types of earthmoving equipment: Excavators, Loaders, Watercarts, Moxys, Graders, Skid Steers, Dozers, Rollers.Hands-on approach with excellent communication and demonstration skillsCompetency and compliance in routine maintenance on machinesValid driver's licence (HR preferred), and your own toolsForklift experience and a valid High-risk work licence (Essential)Refrigerant Handling Licence preferred but not essential; knowledge of Aircon refrigerant handling and willingness to complete licensing requirementsAbility to work autonomously in a fast-paced environmentMust pass a Medical, including a Drug & Alcohol testA strong commitment to safety and teamworkRole Responsibilities: Leading a team (10-12), interacting with a variety of skill levels – from 1st year Apprentice to Senior MechanicWorking alongside the Parts and Product Support Manager and the General ManagerUnderstanding the fast pace of the hire industry and adjusting quickly to changing tasks and prioritiesConducting ongoing maintenance, repairs, and servicing including diagnosis and fault finding in machinery ensuring efficient and timely repairsTroubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues ensuring minimal downtimeContributing to the ongoing maintenance of the workshop and parts departmentAllwest Plant Hire Australia is an equal opportunity employer; we encourage women and indigenous candidates to apply for all advertised positions.
