Senior Manager Payments

Viva Energy Retail is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead our payments function.
In this pivotal role, you'll be at the forefront of our payment strategy, driving innovation and growth across iconic brands like Shell, Liberty, Hungry Jacks, Smoke Mart & Gift Box, and Guzman Y Gomez.
This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape the future of payments for one of Australia's largest, fastest-growing retailers.
Key Responsibilities Lead the Payments Strategy: Create and implement a strategic roadmap for payment systems that embraces new technologies, optimizes merchant fees, and accelerates growth in our Open Loop Fuel Card portfolio.Scheme Relationship Management: Manage partnerships with payment schemes (Visa, MasterCard, eftpos, Amex), including rate negotiations, co-investment opportunities, and routing optimization to minimize transaction costs.Open Loop Fuel Card Program: Drive the performance of our Open Loop Fuel Card providers, managing key contracts and P&L.
Collaborate with marketing to enhance revenue and develop non-fuel income streams.Gift Card Program: Oversee the gift card portfolio, ensuring profitable growth through new product launches, effective marketing campaigns, and efficient cost management.Payments Technology Integration: Represent the payments team in technology discussions, supporting Dealer Networks, Outdoor Payment Terminals, and EV payment solutions.
Keep abreast of industry trends to align with evolving payment technologies.Merchant Services Management: Oversee contracts with Merchant Services Providers to optimise cost efficiency and service delivery.Key Targets Grow the Gross Margin and Volume of the Open Loop Fuel Card portfolio.Set and execute a robust payments strategy, including the integration of new payment technologies.Optimise merchant service fees through strategic negotiations and routing efficiencies.Drive gift card sales while maintaining cost-effectiveness.Partner with marketing to generate additional income streams.Qualifications & Experience The ideal candidate will bring:
Degree in Accounting or related Financial background5+ years of payments experience with expertise in negotiation, strategy, contract management, and procurement.Finance or data analytics backgroundStrong commercial acumen, adaptability to new concepts, and a track record of achieving financial and operational goals.Skills & Abilities Exceptional negotiation skills and commercial insightStrong analytical abilities for data-driven decision-makingStrategic thinking with a proven ability to deliver resultsEffective communication and networking skills for internal and external partnershipsAbility to manage a high workload and prioritise effectivelyWhy Join Us?
